Flappy Bird Craze

It is such a simple game and yet so complicated! It’s like life! Is not life so simple yet difficult at times? But Flappy Bird is more difficult than life. Some people say it’s even sadistic. The more you hate it, the more you love it. You’d want to go back and try again. May be this time you’ll get a higher score. Before you know it you have already spent an hour or more just playing the game. It is so challenging in its simplicity but the level of difficulty with very slim chance of success is what makes this game so addicting.

Life’s ups and downs… Oh yes, and the vertical pipes flappy bird bangs on are the obstacles we need to hurdle as we journey through life. We should try our best not to bang or touch those obstacles or it would be game over. The object of the game is to go through as many vertical pipes as possible without touching or banging on any of them. Yes, fly through unscathed to freedom, perhaps?

Looking at Flappy Bird’s big head which serves as its body and small flapping wings, you’d be reminded of how parents tell their children to soar high when their wings are fully developed. No wonder, Flappy Bird is contented just to fly low because its wings are still small. Once, I even tried soaring above and over the vertical pipes but pipe number one gave me an instant game over. Hilarious! It gave me a good laugh for all the times I tried.

If you haven’t downloaded the app, yet be grateful you will not get hooked as many are. Its developer, Dong Nguyen decided to remove it from iTunes and all the android App Store. To be honest, I downloaded the app just the day before it was removed. One news item I read out of curiosity said it was making $ 50,000 a day. For all it was worth, the quiet and simple life is all that matters now for its developer, Dong Nguyen.
