Culture of Prayer at UNO-R

Students at UNO-R take up Religious Education courses because it is a Catholic Educational Institution. Students with other Religions are very much welcome here. Religious Educators respect diversity of faith and creeds. We can still pray together even if we don’t share the same faith. Don’t you think so, too?  We may call God in many different ways, but He is still the same God who created us.

UNO-R is an Inter-faith Community. There are Catholics, Baptists, Latter Day Saints, Seventh Day Adventists, Aglipayans, Iglesia Ni Kristo, Pentecostals, Muslims, and Buddhists among our students. We pound on Catholics to learn and practice their faith while we share our faith with students of other creeds and listen to them share what they believe in and how they practice their own faith. In the end, we are mutually enriched and come to a better understanding of each other. That way, we can work together for a peaceful and more harmonious world.

The whole campus is lush with verdant trees. In fact, UNO-Recoletos houses a Museum of Trees and the very first Earth Chapel made of mud, broken bottles, straw and recycled materials. It is the very first solar-powered chapel in the Philippines. UNO-R is a green community conducive for prayer and communion with God. There is a Retreat House where students can discover themselves better through silent and guided reflection and meditation. There is a Chapel for Eucharistic Adoration and an Oratory where Holy Mass is celebrated, everyday.

The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos is located in Bacolod City, Philippines.
