Bacolaodiat 2014

Lacson Street teemed with people during the Bacolaodiat Festival on the 30th of January. Participating groups vied for the most coveted First Prize. It was very colorful and festive. The Chopsticks Alley served food to hungry customers with their mouth watering and delicious Chinese Cuisine. Bacolod offers a third festival that is now world class and is becoming a tourist attraction.

Mayor of Bacolod City, Monico Puentebella joined the Grand Parade together with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Representatives. Tsinoys and Filipinos alike enjoyed the Festival.  It is good to see the people of Bacolod united in these festivities.

Festivals are celebrations of life and culture. It is an occasion of getting to know other cultures and sharing all that is good in them. It is wonderful to see the deeper meaning of practices and symbols used in a particular culture. Among the Chinese, the lion and dragon are symbols of prosperity for the coming year.
